Item Description
The V.O. Hammon Pub. Co., Chicago produced two different team photo postcards depicting the 1906 National League champion Chicago Cubs as well as the American League champion Chicago White Sox. Although the White Sox upset the Cubs to take the 1906 World Series, the Cubbies ball club would win an astounding 116 games during the regular season, a record which would go unmatched for nearly a century. This Chicago team featured a total of four National Baseball Hall of Famers (all featured on this postcard), including starting pitcher Mordecai Brown along with the famous double play combination of Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers and Frank Chance. The Cubs would subsequently go on to win both the 1907 and 1908 World Series, cementing a place in history as one of MLB's all-time greatest dynasties. All team members have been identified below the team image. Back of postcard remains blank and was not postally used.
