Item Description
3x4". The 1931 W517 baseball set consists of 54 cards. Each player' photograph is centered within a thick border with the player either posed or in portrait style. The player's name, team and league appear on each, as does the card number. As was the case with many of the strip cards of the time, the W517 are blank-backed.
Joseph Wheeler Sewell (1898 - 1990) was an American professional baseball infielder who played in Major League Baseball for the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees from 1920 to 1933. Career highlights include being a two time World Series champion and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977. This signed copy is one of only three examples ever graded by PSA with only one other graded higher.
