Item Description
Three distinct series of baseball cards were issued in 1967 by Topps to be distributed in Venezuela. Cards #1-138, including the example offered here, feature players currently active in the country's Winter League. Card size varies but is somewhat smaller than the standard-size of the era. Card fronts have posed photos. Backs include short bio. Many cards from this series found today are in lesser condition w/back damage from album removal being the primary culprit.
Luis Clemente Tiant Vega (Spanish pronunciation: ['lwis 'tjant]) (November 23, 1940 - October 8, 2024), nicknamed "El Tiante", was a Cuban professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for 19 years, primarily for the Cleveland Indians and the Boston Red Sox. Career highlights include being a three time All-Star, two time AL ERA leader, being in the Boston Red Sox and Venezuelan Hall of Fame.
