Item Description
20x30" medium white stock. Original screenprint by artist John Angus who designed posters for cultural events around the UK from 1974 to 2006. Printed before the event promoting Rock Against Racism Concert w/Steel Pulse, The Lou's, China Street, and The Venus Boys on February 4th at the Great Hall at Univeristy of Lancaster, UK. Rock Against Racism (RAR) was a campaign set up in the UK in 1976 as a response to increasing racial conflict and the growth of white nationalist groups such as the National Front. The campaign involved pop, rock, punk and reggae musicians staging concerts w/an anti-racist theme, in order to discourage young people from embracing racism. The campaign was founded, in part, as a response to statements and activities by well-known rock musicians that were widely regarded as racist. Poster was rolled and shows moderate edge wear w/corner and margin creases, small chips/tears and obvious dust soiling to back. Fine overall, but will display above grade.
