Item Description
2.75x4.5" on thin paper. ©Superman Inc. ACC# D143. From a set of 24 for the Superman bread campaign, these were bread loaf inserts issued by several different bakeries. Reverse has imprint reading "Ask For Saylor's Bread - Coming Soon - Superman Bread - Watch For It!" Title is "Superman Saves Troop Transport" w/scene of Superman rescuing a transport ship from a deadly reef. Story text back. Still intact at right edge is pledge stamp. There were a total of eight different numbered stamps and this is #8 "I Promise To Save My Pennies To Buy Government Saving Stamps." A complete set of eight stamps were to be sent in as enrollment in the "Superman Junior Defense League Of America" and upon doing so, you received a club badge. Lt. aging and handling wear, faint stain at lower right, .25" tear left center edge. Art remains strong and bold. VG. These cards are rare w/stamp still intact and this is the toughest Superman card set to assemble as such.
