Item Description
1.25" w/blank navy blue back paper and fabric flag ribbon attached under spring pin. Produced for Wilson's visit to Iowa as part of his push for National Defense Preparedness leading up to US entry into WWI. Ribbon has some light surface wear, while the cello has only minor surface wear in reflected light. Strong contrast. NM. A rare single day event button w/historical importance. Wilson addressed 8,000 Iowans at the Des Moines Coliseum on February 1, 1916, notably stating "There Is A Price Which Is Too Great To Pay For Peace, And That Price Can Be Put In One Word. One Cannot Pay The Price Of Self-Respect."
